There’s a lot of conservative lies that have been attached to Christianity. Evangelical leaders regularly repeat these lies, reinforcing them in the national consciousness as “the Christian stance.” Mainline Protestant leaders are more circumspect when handling political issues and are therefore far less vocal in combating them. The result is a lopsided public sphere of understanding. Rebel Jesus Church seeks to expose and combat these lies, to model what strong leaders who actually follow Jesus – not conservatism – could say and do.
